Fire circle ritual at dusk, performers gathered in a ring, flames reflected on the lake

Ritual & Performance Flow

Where the body becomes the ceremony

"Before the bass finds the water, the body must remember how to move."

This five-day immersive brings a small circle of 30 into a field of somatic practice, fire ceremony, voice medicine, and the ancient art of collective rite. Led by three master facilitators, the program does not prepare you for the festival — it prepares you to be a living ceremony within it.

Each practice is land-anchored and lakeside. Movement is offered to the soil beneath your feet. Song is given to the water. Fire holds the threshold between what you arrived as and what you carry forward. Every breath a thread. Every gesture an offering.

The heartbeat passed soul to soul — this is where it begins.

Everything held within this ticket

Five Days of Guided Immersion

Morning-to-evening sessions across five full days with three master facilitators. Each day opens a new chamber of practice and closes with shared reflection.

Full Waking Life Festival Access

Your Flow ticket includes a full 5-day festival pass. You enter the wider festival not as a new arrival — but as one who already carries the heartbeat.

Three Organic Vegetarian Meals Daily

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner from our resident kitchen collective. Local Alentejo farms, entirely plant-based. The table is part of the practice — nourishment as ceremony.

Tipi Accommodation with Mattress

Your tipi is pitched and waiting in the Flow village. Queen mattress, cotton bedding, lantern. A shelter that holds you between the practices. Canvas walls, stars above, the land just outside.

Welcome Ceremony & Arrival Feast

The first evening opens with fire, shared food, and a ceremony that casts the circle — marking who is here, what is held, and what the land is asked to witness. The program begins with arrival.

Morning Embodiment Practice

Each day opens with a body-led practice — movement, breath, or stillness, led by whichever of the three facilitators holds the morning. No two mornings the same. The body chooses the frequency.

Evening Community Fires

Nightly fire gatherings. The day's learning meets the dark. Stories, songs, and silence all find their place. Nico tends the threshold. You bring what you carry.

Mask & Costume Creation Workshop

A half-day creative session to craft the character you will carry into the festival. All materials provided. The mask becomes your signature as the wider event begins.

Flow Practice & Resource Guide

A printed guide to the practices, lineages, and facilitators of this circle — with exercises, references, and reflections to carry into the months after the festival ends.

Shared Herbal Tea Station

Herbal infusions throughout the day, prepared from the land's own medicine. Between practices, in the morning before the circle opens, and after fire at night.

Festival Opening Ceremony Participation

Your circle guides a part of the festival's opening ceremony as the wider event begins. You are not the audience. You are the threshold through which the festival enters.

Intimate Circle — 30 Participants Maximum

This practice requires smallness. Ritual depends on it. Thirty people who know each other's names, whose voices will join and whose bodies will move through the same field together.

Who holds the circle

Marta Sousa

5Rhythms Wave Facilitator & Somatic Movement Teacher

Based in Lisbon, Marta has been guiding movement as medicine for twelve years across Portugal, Spain, and Brazil. Trained in the lineage of Gabrielle Roth, she integrates somatic trauma therapy into her wave facilitation — creating spaces where the body is given permission to lead, and the mind learns to follow.

"The body does not lie. Let it speak."

Nico Brandt

Fire Ceremony & Sacred Rite

A European practitioner of ceremonial fire traditions, Nico trained in indigenous rite of passage practices and has been holding fire space for community for fourteen years. He works at the intersection of masculine rites, grief ritual, and collective transformation — tending the threshold between who we were and who we are becoming.

"Fire does not just warm. It transmutes."

Lena Vasquez

Voice, Song & Sound Medicine

A choral musician, breathwork facilitator, and sound medicine practitioner from Catalonia, Lena weaves voice, overtone, and resonance practices into community ritual. She teaches that singing together is the oldest form of nervous system regulation — and that a circle that sings cannot remain strangers for long.

"When voices join, something beyond the room arrives."

Five days, one arc

Each day opens a new chamber and closes another. You move through threshold, pulse, voice, fire, and offering — arriving at the festival not as spectator, but as someone already changed by the land.

Day One

Threshold

Arrival and body check-in. The site receives you. A slow orientation, hands to earth, feet to ground. The welcome ceremony at dusk casts the circle — who is here, what is held. Nico lights the first fire. The program begins where all ceremony begins: with attention.

Day Two

Pulse

Marta opens a full 5Rhythms wave — Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, Stillness — from first light through the morning hours. The body begins to remember what it already knows. Afternoon somatic practice in smaller groups. By evening, the fire circle holds what moved.

Day Three

Voice

Lena guides morning toning circles, overtone exploration, and song-as-medicine. The voice joins what the body already opened. Afternoon shifts to the mask and costume creation workshop — a half-day of materials, craft, and the slow emergence of the character you will carry. The lake holds the day's reflection at dusk.

Day Four

Fire

Ceremony design and collective rehearsal with all three facilitators. The circle learns to move and sound as one. By evening, the performance: a gift offered to the land, witnessed by the land. Not for an audience. For the water, the soil, and the stars that were already listening.

Day Five

Offering

Integration and closing rite. What was learned, embodied. What was received, given back. The circle closes as the festival gates open, and your Flow circle steps forward to guide the opening ceremony for the wider event. You enter not as a new arrival — but as one already carrying the frequency.

What to know before you arrive

Your Tipi

Pitched and waiting in the Flow village before your arrival, separate from general festival camping. Queen mattress, cotton bedding, lantern. A place to return to between practices. Canvas walls hold sound and silence equally well.

The Table

Three meals daily from our kitchen collective — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Local, organic, and entirely vegetarian. Sourced from Alentejo farms. Shared long tables. The way you eat together is also a practice.

Dates

Five days in the week before Waking Life 2027 opens. Your Flow ends as the festival begins — the closing ceremony is also the opening ceremony. Exact dates confirmed to registered participants in advance.

Group Size

Thirty participants maximum. Ritual requires it. You will know every name, every voice, every face in this circle before the first full day ends. Smallness is the container that makes depth possible.

No Plastic

This program is entirely plastic-free. Bring your own cup and water vessel. Refill stations are placed throughout the site. The land we practice on asks this of us.

What to Bring

Comfortable clothing you can move and sweat in. Layers for cool Alentejo evenings. Something warm for the fire circle nights. A journal. Open feet and an unguarded chest. A full packing list is shared with registered participants.
